Question:
I have worked out for years now, yet starting back into working out leaves me with such swelling. We all know that getting back to normal and keeping healthy is vital, but WOW!! it really creates the swelling.
I am introducing only a little at a time, very slowly, and taking Brolemain and drinking water. But after a slow 30 min. workout of treadmill and light or no weights, I am left with such swelling! I am almost 6 PO and have had the OK from my Dr. to go ahead. I started with a slow walk on the treadmill the 2nd week.
My question is this: How has everyone else dealt with this? Any suggestions?

I am not glad that you both are also swelling, but I am glad its not just me. It is really getting me down. I seem to swell mostly around the incision and then I become so miserable. About 1 hr. after I work out ( and I am keeping it lighter) I am in so much pain! Is this normal? And when can I start to feel normal again?
Also, I am starting to feel at 6 wks PO that my family is expecting me to be back to normal already. I feel that they are all tired of hearing it. Is it me? Or am I expecting too much from myself.
My husband, daughter and her husband have booked a trip for us October 9 to Cabo. They are so excited. But I am having a revision on the old BB vertical on August 28, and worried about being in the sun, and also with the humidity there, I am worried about swelling. I know that we will be on the go and in the hot sun all day. Will I be in shape, and ready for this?
I am so glad to have all of you to talk to, because no one else understands.

Hi blondie, You probably won't be 100% for the trip, but the more you can do to get back to life the more you will not dwell on this LONG process. You will still have a good time even if you do swell it is better to be having a good time and maybe you won't even think that much about the tt for a few days. Good luck Kathy
Answer:
ooof i didnt even bother trying to start working out til 8 weeks PO.
By then I was feeling pretty much normal.
I went to cancun for a week when I was about 10 weeks PO and did fine.
At this stage, you will find each week showing greater improvement.
Im 4 mos PO and still swell after working out.
It no longer hurts, though.....just annoying

You have all made me feel a whole lot better about this. I was starting to wonder if I would ever get back to normal. Maybe I tried too soon.
After working out for so long, I am noticing that the butt is starting to look awful and I did not want to put a bathing suit on and was starting to worry about vacation. I felt like it was putting undue pressure on me. How long before any of you started with squats?
Also, it was the first time I was starting to feel less optimistic about this whole process. Does the swelling look worse as time goes on? Before it gets better?
