Question:
After my TT/ I had a rash underneath my bandages and dressing(bad), I couldn't scratch so I just kept taking benedryl liquid. After the bandages where out it stopped itching and was able to put rx meds on the that was very irritated, and it helped. I am now 4 weeks PO and the itch has come back with a vengence. My TT is becoming blistered in areas and it hurts to the touch it also has become red at the scar line. The cut out the stitches(desolvable) but it still itches and hurts. I am not scratching. She said I am very sensitive. It looks like my body is trying to expel the stiches. Is this normal, can I do any or put anything on that will help, I am scared of the blisteres and even after the doctor took out the stitches they are popping up out of my skin, Is this normal. Can this turn into Necrosis? Also I am having sporadic almost shooting pain coming from scar line. Is this normal? Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciateed!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
RXING
Answer:
On your line?
It sounds like a really bad case of spitting stitches... I have 4 right now a long my scar line and Im 5 weeks. They look like little red irritated bumps and the stitches are popping through the (they are sharp). I don't think that should increase the risk for necrosis, but I don't know. It is also normal to get weird pains on the incision for a long time, mine is still very tender and I get mild shooting pains. Are you on antibotics?
Answer:
Hi I think I just had the same thing you are going through however I am finally getting over it. I too have sensitive and got a reaction. I started rashing along the line and it started blistering. My PS said that it is a reaction to the tape and surgery stuff they put on your skin. I was told wash it with mild soap. I used cetaphil and then used dove for sensitive skin. Then I use benadryl over it. I put a l all over then wrapped it loosely with the johnson and johnson gauze wrap because the rash blisters started oozing. This all started about 2 weeks ago. I am finally getting over it now. Just don't scratch and keep it clean. Hope this works for you.

I was allergic to everything too. Just try to keep everything off it, including clothing. Mine was hyper-sensitive to everything.

I believe the shooting pains are normal. The nerves are regenerating themselves, so in a sense, this is good. After a BL 2 years ago, I felt like my boobies were being electrocuted for about 2 months.

Answer:
I am not a doc but for my allergic reactions, an allergist recommended Zyrtex plus Tagamet. The Zyrtec is by Rx only but you can get Tagamet over the counter. Each blocks a different histamine. I got far better relief from this than monstrous amounts of benedryl capsules.

I am going to try some of the suggestions, but I am just ed that it will turn into necrosis, and that it will continue to get worse, told me to put e. but I think that will irritate the scar line.
I am not on any antibiotic or pain meds just tylenol or advil pm for when I have insomnia. By the way tomorrow I am 5 weeks PO too and on Long Island .
