Question:
If possible, could you, or someone, do a sticky on swelling. Helpful ideas on how to deal. Mabe it doesn't need a sticky, I just know I am gonna have swelling ?? as time goes on and it seems as though people just get tired of swelling posts. thanks tons, this board has saved me more than once!
Answer:
I tell you what.. if you, or someone can start one, we can all add to it.
Try to include as much as you can think of, and then others can add or elaborate as they wish. When we feel we have one that's pretty complete, I'll add it to the "education center" that they'll be publishing soon. And I'll also compile one big sticky which inlcudes the others above that I've added.
Such as how to pick a PS, massage an incision, etc.. and divide into sections with a table of contents.
I'm swamped right now, or I'd do it.. I put in 40 hrs this Sat and Sun, and still have a full week ahead...
If no one steps up, I'll do it when I can catch my breath again..
But prepare yourself.. there's still going to be people that are worried about their results and will ask anyway.
But that's ok too.

I just want to say for all it may be worth........my tummytuck was 2 years ago and I tried , lemon water, PS perscribed diuretics, hell I even tried the apple cider vinegar because I was swelling some this summer when I took my son to San Diego for college and that was the "popular" thing at the time here. The end result is this surgery causes swelling and frankly I don't think anything will alleviate it significantly for those of us that are going to be swellers. We have had significant trauma to our tissues and this is our bodies way of dealing with it while healing. A major assault has occurred to our lymph systems and until this has healed (on it's own) we are going to swell thats it and thats all. I feel if you have as well this adds to it. Swelling is a side effect of this surgery that everyone MUST be prepared for because it can be damaging to us mentally ( making some question) why have I done this to my body????? What you need to cling to after this surgery is KNOWING that YES some day this swelling will be gone and I will be healed. I aplogize if I am coming across harsh that is not my intent but everyone needs to be aware that swelling does and will occur with this surgery and in all reality there is very little that can be done about. A remedy that may work for some is not going to be the cureall for others. Please just go into this with your s open I honestly had no idea.....I found this site when I was 2 weeks postop. It's only in hindsight that I can offer this dose of reality.

Thank you Wendy, It needs to be said time and time again, we all want a quick fix as the swelling IS so hard to deal with day in and day out. Then you start to wonder if you are putting on a few lbs. So don't worry about saying what everyone needs and wants to be told. Thanks again Kathy

Swebby, I just noticed your last response on that thread, I missed it somehow. I'm going away for a few days but will try to put together something when I get back if nobody has done it yet. I think if we all pooled our resources we could build a fine "swelling stickie".
