Question:
Hi all,
Well finally got the drains out today...thank g-d. Everyone says they have swelling for up to a year and I of course believe that but my surgeon keeps telling me i don't have much and it will be gone in a few weeks but again it is minor. Now, don't get me wrong, I would like to believe that and I just don't. Are there cases where the swelling is minute? I think I have more than a litte but not a ton and just want to hear peoples opinions on that.
Thanks as always!
Answer:
Congratulations on getting the drains out! Isn't it liberating?!
I absolutely think there are people who have minimal swelling. I am not one of them. I think those people, whoever they are, probably don't frequent the message boards as much. Maybe they don't need as much moral support as we do? Don't know, but YES it's absolutely possible. You have the right attitude. Expect the worst, hope for the best.
Good luck, and minimal swelling!

I have had very little swelling. The only time I notice any is right before bed and even then it's minimul. I just stopped wearing the compression yesterday so we'll see if that changes things - I hope not but am going into it expecting swelling so we will see...

My very good friend has surgery in May...I saw her 8 days later...I couldn't see any swelling. I know it was there to some extent, but not anything like mine is even today. I just tend to swell. She was all black and blue...and I barely bruised...go figure!!! Everyone is different.
Answer:

Answer:
I too have had minimal swelling. My surgery was on May 8th tt/mr/hr and except for the day before, the 1st and 2nd day of my period, I really haven't had much swelling. When i do swell, it tend to be more of a tightness in my tummy, not really anything that anyone other then me can notice. All in all it's been easy and really minimal. i was expecting it to be way worse. good luck to you!! Deb

I had minimal swelling. I noticed it most late evening & night time. Most of mine was above my bb.
I had swelling after I ate ANY soduim. And I was surprized once I figured it out how much you eat has TONS of salt in it.

Answer:
My swelling was never very bad, I had a couple of areas just above my incision that would swell up occasioanlly and my thighs were definately bigger in the first few months, but nothing serious or restrictive
