Anyone a Waittress????

Question:
Hi,
I had a FT, MR, BA,BL on 2/27. My MR is what concerns me now. It must have been pretty aggressive because I did not stand straight until 3 1/2 weeks out. Even now at 5 weeks today I can still feel my muscles when I walk. (not really hurt just unconfortable) Anyway ps said I could go back to work at 5 weeks because of the lifting however I work as a waittress at a very busy restaurant lots of fast walking and heavy lifting and I am nervous about it. I told my boss I would come back at 6 weeks but I have to let her know a week ahead to put me on the schedule. Even when I am normal feeling it is a hard job. Do you see a big difference between week 5 and 6????
Thank you in advance.

Listen to your body. Are there food runners or bussers who may be able to help you until you feel comfortable?
I too work as a waitress/bartender, but have to go back to work on monday (13 days p.o). I told my manager I can only bartend for a little while tilll I feel comfortable. I keep thinking about it, and am wondering if it will even really bother me, since i pull most of my trays from chest high or higher, and to me- its more legs and arms..
Im hoping I'll be okay.
I hope you figure out a way, and if your ps says you are okay, than maybe just take it slow. The more you do- the more you're body will compensate for it.

Good luck.

I'm not a waitress but I am interested in the answers to your question.

I am a flight attendant (same deal, waitress in the sky!)

I have 4 weeks off work and have just got my roster. My first trip back is a really busy route and I am away for 7 days. I will need to take a big suise which is going to be hard to lug around.

I am 2 weeks post op now and I'm thinking there is no way I am going to be up to it by 4 weeks post op.

My options are to try swap the trip for an easier route and not so long away so I can take my small wheelie bag and just get someone to assist in putting it away in overhead locker.

Option 2 is to get a Dr's certificate for my first trip back.

Option 3 is to apply to do office duties for a week or 2. (not guaranteed)

I haven't told anyone at work about my surgery.

Thanks

Thank you,
I just don't know because I work the lunch shift very fast paced and not a whole lot of help so I am very nervous.

Answer:

I used to be a waitress in college for several years. I would ask to work a station that opens up later & closes earlier until you know you can handle it. Can the hostesses help by pacing your seating? Can you do someone's sidework if they help you run heavy trays? Maybe you can tip out someone to help you?

Good luck!
