constipation

Question:
hi i am 3months po and have been getting constapated quite often has any one else felt like that?
Answer:

Fiber, fiber, fiber. You need more fiber! And probably more water. A lot of women after c-sections complain of constipation months after delivery, so I don't think it's unusual that you're still experiencing some constipation. Any trauma to your belly can slow down the digestion process. An occasional suppository may help. I wouldn't mess with laxatives, as they tend to upset your stomach.

Hope this helps...

Answer:

yes! I'm having the same problem. I thought it was in my head. I've tried Benefiber and Metamucil and both haven't worked, but maybe I'm not taking them for long enough. i tried both for about a week.
Answer:

As a lifetime sufferer of constipation-predominant IBS I've read a few books on the subject. First, pain medication causes serious constipation, but if you're 3 months post-op you're probably not taking anything anymore. Some people, unfortunately, develop IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) after surgery that doesn't resolve on it's own. Perhaps you've had bouts of IBS in the past, which would identify you as an IBS sufferer, and once you develop IBS you're never cured and are vulnerable to flares at any time. If this is your first experience with chronic constipation you should really visit a gastroenterologist to make sure you haven't fallen victim to a chronic problem. There are things he/she can prescribe that will help. IBS is a real drag, but it's manageable. Good luck.
Answer:

I bought fiber pills!! None of the laxatives worked. So I take them daily now and it has helped. I still have haemorrhoid/ something like it froom the straining the first three weeks after surgery.
Answer:

Prunes and stool softeners (Dulcolax).
Stool softeners are non addictive and don't cramp. You can usually have a BM by the AM.
Answer:

I would also recommend daily exercise . I know that worked for me after 3 c-sections and now with the FTT.
Answer:

more water to drink, Benefiber, Doc-o-lat, more movement, prune juice warmed so it does not "wake" up the tummy. Corse applesauce or chunky. Try going more Organic, drink less milk.

I'm out of ideas! I have done all of this, am 2 wks post-op and I have yet to have hard stools or be constipated.

I hope that you get some relief!
Answer:

I really think you should see your primary MD. Any change in bowel movements should be checked by a . Maybe it is nothing but better to be safe.

My sister-in-law just had hemorroid (sp) surgery and had been taking the flaxseed capsul which never seemed to help. After her surgery she started grinding up flaxseed in her coffee grinder and takes a couple tsp. and puts in in her cereal, soup, etc. and says she can't beleive the difference it has made in her BM's. So you may want to try that. She bought her flaxseed at Walmart in the area. It's put out by Rexall, it is in a gold bag and costs aroun $8.00. Hope this helps.
For people being constipated by pain pills, the pharmacist told my hubby one time to use grape juice and it worked for him, so those of you that can't get punes to your lips, try some grape juice. Have a great day!!!!
Answer:
