? about being numb

Question:
I'm 5 days PO. when I take the off and touch my belly, most of it is numb. Less today than day 3, so that's good, but I really can't feel the whole area around my belly button.
I knew the area would be like that, and actually I have feeling below the scar, and just above it. No feeling in the middle. It's a disturbing feeling.
Is this normal?

it can be seen in the last pic i took from tonite.

Plumcrazy,

I am 3 weeks po today....I still have a lot of numbness above my incision to about an inch above my bb. My ps said it was normal but did not really explain why ???? I just figure it has something to do with all the nerves being cut ?? but I could be wrong.
Answer:

I am 11 days post op & I am also numb around that area. I was told the numbness will slowly go away. So, I do believe this is normal.
Answer:

It is totally normal! My incision felt the same way. It is much better now though. As far as my BB, I had ABSOLUTELY NO feeling at all for quite some time. I still don't have much feeling in BB but it is getting better each day. You look great by the way!!!!!
Answer:

Thanks, I thought it was normal, but wanted to double check.
That's why I love this board. answers to all your questions, and quicker than calling PS LOL

I have a question, why does your go all the way around? I thought you had a FTT, is that really a LBL? I think it looks fabulous and want my surgeon to do to me what yours did to you? I have to admit, I'm a little freaked out by the "insides" pic but intrigued all at the same time.
Answer:

Numbness is totally normal. I am numb all the way from under my chest to my incision. In the upper ab area I am numb in the center, maybe a 5" wide area, then from my BB down I'm pretty much numb almost completely, but it has gotten slightly better. I'm 6 weeks post-op. My PS said that you can be numb for months after surgery and it usually goes away 90-95% completely. It is because the nerves are cut during the MR. She said none of her patients ever complained about it. It's a very weird feeling but I'm sure we'll all agree that it's worth it!

I am also very numb in the upper part of my stomach and can't feel a thing in my belly button area. I had a girlfriend who hat a TT almost 2 years ago and she told me the numbing sensation lasts about a year. Don't know why but that is what she told me. I am pretty sure that it would get better and better as time passes but she told me that it lasts about a year
