Question:
Hi everyone! I just found this site and wish I had found it pre-op!!! Anyhoo, I just had FTT, MR, BR, & HR on March 7th.
I am finding that the hernia repair is the WORST of all the procedures! I can't get over the pain I have where the repair was made. Anyone else out there had the same experience? If so, how long did it take you to recover from it? It seems that the TT/BR was a breeze in comparison.
Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Hi, I definitely feel the hernia repair more than anything these days. I am staying away from ab work when I exercise and trying not to strain it. I had a pretty large hernia right under my bb.
I am thankful for it, however- it gave me my excuse to work, the gym, and y friends. "I had a large hernia repaired" wink wink... didn't have to mention the TT!

Answer:
I'm about 15wks post and hernia repair and, just in the past week, noticed a huge difference in how my hernia repair and muscle repair are feeling. Prior to that, it was still really painful to sneeze/cough/laugh, but now it is only mildly uncomfortable. My swelling has also been more stable and less noticeable in the past week----the 2 must have something to do with each other. Julie
Answer:
Yep, I did! Infact I am only 7 days post-op and the PS told me that I had 2 hernias! I knew I had one in my belly button because whenever I ate too much and felt too full my belly button killed me and a little part of my bb bulged out! Well I guess I had one right above my belly button too. My PS said that it's very common for women after pregnancies. Make sure that you PS is a general Surgeon too and can perform the hernia repair at the same time. I feel so much better now...flat tummy, free, a little and hernia free!

Thanks everyone for your input! It helps knowing that i'm not alone out there!
I'm so glad I found this board!!! Just wish I found it sooner!
Answer:
I havent been actually diagd with a hernia yet and dont know much about them. I am scheduled to see if that is what I have. Maybe you ladieds can verify. mine is located in my groin area and it has a slight protruding bump. When I sneeze every so often it will hurt. When I exercise at certain times it feels extremely bruised and protrudes more. It then takes approximately 3 days before the soreness subsides.
Sound familiar ladies?
Did you just see your cosmetic surgeon. who diagnosed you? What percent did your insurance cover ?

Answer:
champjr: it sounds like you have a hernia. This was my 3rd (that is why I decided to do the TT, etc.). All mine have been in the groin area. The first was just like yours....it protruded (a bump) and it hurt. So I had surgery. Then almost a year to date later, it reoccurred. That was about 4 years ago. This time, it's in the groin area again, but on the other side!!
You should definately have it checked out by your . My primary care diagd mine. To have insurance pay for it, I had the referral to a general surgeon covered under insurance. My TT, MR, BR was all covered by me
Good luck to you

Thanks for your information. Sounds like the same thing I have. So was that all billed separately. Is that considered outpatient or do they keep you in one night?
