Question:
What happends if my period, which is around the surgery time, comes early...like on that day? Will the PS still operate?

Answer:
People have asked before....I believe the consensus was that it didn't matter...surgery stayed the same.
Answer:
I had just got off of mine the week before and after my surgery I must have given my body a shock because I started again the day after I got home. I don't think it really matters, however what a pain
Answer:
Thank God for hysterectomies, that is one thing I do not miss... don't worry they can do the surgery when you are on it, however, getting to the loo to um, let's see how to word this...change... might be very uncomfortable the first couple of days. Well, at least if you have major cramps the pain meds should help.
I know people though who have gotten on the pill just to avoid having their periods for important occasions (weddings, surgeries, vacations, etc).
Answer:
That is good to know. I was thinking that I might have to reschedule. I get such bad pains, though not much bleeding so I was thinking it might be a good thing...At least I'd already be dopped up.

I hate to be GROSS but there is alot of bleeding with this surgery so they won't care where it is coming from.

Answer:
I know what you mean... s have seen it all already, I just feel bad for those of you who may have to deal with it during the recovery period at home. I could not imagine.
Answer:
Are you on Birth Control? I took my pills the week of my period which was the week following my surgery. This prevented me from having to deal with it.
Answer:
I cut out the BC pills I was taking months ago. I didn't like the side effects, however mild. Plus, there wasn't much action coming my way. If I had thought about it, I would have planned to start around this time but for some reason I thought you had to stop taking BC pills when surgery is scheduled. Now I'm becoming way more informed!! Thanks everyone!

Answer:
I had TT/BL OCt'05. Of course I got my period the day before surgery. I told the nurse I was expecting it and she said no problem, just wear a tampon. I have heavy flow the first couple of days, so i got the most absorbent tampon I could find-I tried the OB super duper plus and they worked well-didn't soak through during surgery. I also thought being on the period also helped me to be sure to be up and walking every couple of hours to change pad/tampon. Hope this helps. Carrie
Answer:
Thanks Carrie, that answered my second question. My cycles are so light that I hate bothering w/ pads and almost always use tampons. Glad to hear that I still can.
Diamond
Answer:
it will not matter if you have your period. it might be a challenge using tampons the first few days, but i'm sure that you would agree wearing pads for a few days in exchange for a flat middle is ok!!
i don't have those things anymore, praise the Lord and my GYN.
Answer:
I had my period for my surgery. No biggy. They wouldn't let me wear a tampon. They put a pad b/w my legs, gave me a shot, put a mask over my face and out I went. Never thought about it again.
Don't worry about it. My PS said it happens all the time. No big deal.
