Question:
My name is Scott and I am 46 years old living in Bayside Queens New York. I have a clicking or popping or even a hiccup feeling on every single inbreath I take in my chest area. This is been going on for about 8 months. I have been for a cat scan with contrast and that was fine, to a pulmonologist to check my lungs and that was fine, to a cardiologist and my heart is fine. I know for sure there is something wrong with me because this should not be happening. Every single breath I take this happens. I do not know what to do or who to turn to ask. I have searched the internet but I do not find anything about this. I NEED HELP. I am scared to death.
Scott
Answer:
Hi Scott,
I get a click or pop on occasion when I take a deep breath too. Feels like a click in the center of my chest, on the sternum. I don't know what it is either. I suspect it may have something to do with the ligament, or cartilage, or maybe even the facet joints. But don't have any real answers. Do you experience any pain or shortness of breath, or other symptoms? Sometimes I get a snap/crack in my spine at the same point, but feel it in the back. I had a thoracic MRI last spring, but didnt' show much of anything significant. So the pop or click may be in the soft tissue rather than the bone.
Sorry I don't have any answers for you. But at least you know there are other people who get it too. And I've had it for years with no ill effects.
