Answer:
The entire family needs to be treated with any over-the-counter head lice remedy. You can find good ones at Wal Mart. Also, wash your towels and bedding using bleach or a color-safe bleach product. If you have a dishwasher, put all of your brushes and combs in there and run a cycle using soap and a small amount of bleach. If you don't have a dishwasher, soak your hair accessories in a bleach solution. Also wash any hats or other headwear. Usually, one treatment takes care of it but check each family member carefully - sometimes a second treatment is necessary.
Answer:
My child had this from school. The exterminator told us to use Johnson baby shampoo on her hair all the time. Just remember that the lice treatments are medications that seep into the skin so one should not give alot of treatments.
Someone once told me that pouring a can of coke on their hair helps also.
When my child had this I tied the stuff animals up in trash bags and left them for two weeks.

I'm in Florida and this happens ALL the time over here with the heat. You can call your Health Dept and get a bunch of the stuff and pay only $10 just tell them how many members in your family you need to treat. You can also buy lice treatment at the drug store. Take off all your bedding and wash it, you can put the quilts and blankets in the dryer for twenty minutes and that will get rid of anything on them. Toys can be put in garbage bags and put in your garage for a few weeks. You can iron your bed to kill any that may be on their beds. Wash ALL clothes that they have come in contact with, you too. Make sure to rinse their hair with vinegar and this will help loosen the nits and they will comb out easily, you HAVE to get ALL nits out. IF not that's why you repeat in a week. If you want to go the natural route you can use something from the health food store, I think it's green tree oil. The drug stores also have a spray that you can spray on any thing else such as carpets or the car seats. Make sure your friends are doing all of this too because they are kinda tough to get rid of. Good luck.
