Numbness in thigh

Question:
This will sound very strange but I thought maybe someone would know. For about a month I have had an area in the front left area of my thigh. It feels sort of numb. It is an area about 6" x 6". I have feeling there, it just feels like when novacaine is wearing off after going to the dentist. I have no idea what this is or why it is. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Answer:

Can be a pinched nerve in the spinal area. Radiculopathy is the name for it. Here is a good site:http://www.*********/symptoms-radiculopathy.html to read up on it. Red

Hey Katheeg-
I had the SAME thing a couple of years ago when I was 19 or 20. I had it on both thighs. I noticed it one day when I was shaving my legs. A little while after noticing it my back started to hurt. When I went to the doctor I had an MRI and found out that I had a narrowing disc in my lower back. I don't need surgery and it was nothing major, it was just brushing up on a nerve. I took anti inflammatories for a while and it just went away. I still have the narrowed disc, but no pain or numbness. I would go to a doctor to get it checked out, though. You don't want to self-diagnose and skip over something that could be serious. Good luck...but I'm sure you'll be fine.
