military spine

Question:
I get headaches in the back of my head and neck area. So i went to the doctor told me if i wanted to go see a Chiropractor. So this week i did.
The chiropractor told me after taking ex rays that i have something that is called military spine. Wear around the neck the spine should have a curve but mine is straight. Which mostlikely causes these head aches.
Im still very nervous about my headaches being from soemthing worse.
Anyone know about military spine. Or have any info on it?
Answer:

I have never heard this called 'military spine" but what you have is actually quite common.I also have this,it is called loss of the loridodic curve.Instead of the natural slight curving of the c spine,we have a more stacked like appearance. This can cause problems at some point for some people. It makes it much easier to have conditions where the vertebrae will start to slip and eventually kind of override each other, and the development of bone spurs.i would by pass the chiro for right now and see a neurosurgeon, not actually for some surgery, but to get a better handle on any possible structural problems that may be occuring in the C spine.you should probably get an MRI before you see him as he will most likely send you for one anyway and you can save yourself alot of time by getting this done before. In most cases, when there are symptoms(such as your headaches)The NS will probably send you for PT to see if this will help alleviate your headaches before trying anything really invasive.I hope this helped.Marcia
