Question:
My doc just told me to get this stuff, to relieve my bloating. They did an X-ray on me and said my colon was backed up.
Has anyone had any experience with this stuff? And will it completely cure my colon from getitng backed up again or do I have to use it for life??
Answer:
Hi,
Fleet is a purgative...laxative....a clean-out that people use before colonoscopies. I've only used it once for that and will never again touch the stuff.
But, if I remember correctly, I mixed it with 7-up or something like that. It's "ginger" flavour didn't agree with me, but for many others it's no bother. Call the pharmacy and ask what they suggest to mix it with. Doesn't it say on the bottle instructions?
It works fairly quickly to force you to evacuate the bowels.
I don't think it will cure you from it ever happening again, but at least it'll help for this time.
Did your doctor suggest a change in diet?
What does your diet consist of at this time?
I hope you feel better afterward.
Let me know how it "goes"!!
quincy

I told my doc what I eat and she didn't mention it being my diet. I make sure to eat spinach salad with broccoli every day with lunch & dinner, plus I was taking fiber pills 3 times a day (figured I stop the fiber since I'm about to take the phospho soda).
I was getting colonics over the summer thinking this would help clean out my colon, but I guess this didn't work. I told my doctor this and she didn't say anything else on that topic
Answer:
If you take fiber pills and do not drink enough water, you will become blocked. Be sure and drinks plenty of water.
Combination of spinach and corn is what the doctor told me to eat before a test in the past. This combination has a loosening effect.
Eating a combination of oatmeal, oat bran, wheat bran, soy granules will also help. Lots of natural fiber.

Thanks for responding. Since I work out alot, I drink the recommended 64 oz. of water daily & I eat oatmeal every single morning- that's what boggles me about being so backed up.
One more ? about the soda
1. does it give you cramps like most laxatives do??
2. are you "out of it" for the entire day or just for the few hours, I'm trying to decide when to take it and don't want to have to stay by a toilet for an entire day
