What are these blood tests?

Question:
I went to the doctor with a swallowing problem, and he found swollen tonsils. He took blood and checked it immediately (CBC test I think) and said everything looked ok. He also said he was going to send it out, and on my sheet it is listed as "cevical ideopathy" or something like that...I'm trying to read doctor's handwriting! LOL
I know it doesn't say "cervical", because I'm a guy. =)
Any ideas what the test is and what he would be testing for. I got caught up in the appointment and didn't get a chance to ask him.

Spasmodic Torticollis, also known as cervical dystonia, is a form of dystonia characterized by intermittent spasms of the neck muscles resulting in involuntary rotation and tilting of the head.

Actually, I dont think that's it. Cervical just means pertaining to the neck, or the neck of any organ (so can refer to the neck or the female organs). Idiopathic means unknown cause. So ignore the previous message, sorry about that!
Answer:

It might have said cervical adenopathy, which simply put means swollen lymph glands in the neck.
The word cervical in medicine often means "neck".
You might have an infection (often not discernable just by looking at your tonsils) and the blood tests will tell him more, and if antibiotics might be appropriate.

(sorry guiltygenius- I didn't mean to repeat your info about "neck"...we were posting at virtually the same moment!)

Answer:

CBC is complete blood count this is a standard test to check your blood for infections and bacteria if your white blood cells were high then you would have proberly had an infection or something but your doc said fine.
