A Grain of Sand - Just an opinion

Question:
It is impossible for the human brain to comprehend how expansive the universe is. For every grain of sand on this planet, there are a million stars. We are a spec, on a spec, on a spec. To realize how insignificant we are is the first step in a staircase of many, eventually leading to a door I like to call Euphoria.
Essentially nothing you do matters (to anyone else anyway.) You could go on a shooting spree, you could plant a bomb, you could even kill yourself, and in the grand scheme of things it’s just another grain of sand in the wind. However, people who would choose to do such a thing make the mistake of confusing insignificance with unimportance. Just because you are a spec does not mean you do not hold a universe of meaning and importance within yourself. – You are only as happy as you think you are.
Outside factors do effect how happy of a person you are, but only if you take for granted what reasons you have to be happy.
>When you wake up from your warm bed in the morning to eat your breakfast, thousands of children will have died throughout the night from starvation.
>When you get frustrated because you can't decide what to wear that day for fear of not fitting in, hundreds of thousands more wear rags to avoid freezing.
>When someone insults you, because of the way you look or something you do, at least you have your health. If you can avoid being phased by their comments I gaurentee you are a happier person then them.
The list goes on but I’m sure you get my point. Use the insignificance to your advantage. Don’t be afraid to do or say what you feel because you fear a reaction. Know that whoever you’re confronting, complimenting, or insulting (though you shouldn't resort to that) is so wrapped up in themselves that you could make or break their day with just a few words.
I know this seems like a morbid way of looking at things, but it has kept me out of depression for some time. There's more I want to say, but I've rambled for long enough.

BTW - If you have philosophies like this, or your own,I would love to hear them. Often people who are depressed have adressed the more important questions in life, and I live to hear the explanations.

So basically you are saying stop having self pity? I wish it were that easy for some.
I have my own philosphy about life. I believe in God and I think he gives us three basic needs to our lives. Love, significance and security. If you don't get those needs all met you will go in search of them and sometimes end up with blinders on trying to find a direct path to one, sort of an instant fix like using alchohol & drugs, pornography and promiscuity, or any of a barage of human personality disorders. I also believe that each of us is dealt a fate in life and will suffer our own hell 3 times over. I've got 2 in. Everyone I've ever known has had 3 in their life and I don't mean just a bad time, I mean a really bad time like having a breakdown, divorce, finding out you have cancer etc.
Now you probably think I am really strange but I wouldn't want to leave anyone thinking that things are hopeless

I never said things were hopeless. You have got to read what I said very carefully to understand what I was trying to convey.
As for I god, I believe there is a higher being, and a reason we are here. Who and why, I dont know. But I do not believe in heaven or hell. I believe in energy (a soul if you will) and I believe when you die your experience after death is based on how well you lived your life. But past that I'm agnostic.

You'll have to forgive me on that one. I'm the kind of person who always has to have something to look forward to, I just couldn't find that in your post. We have many the same beliefs. I don't believe in heaven or hell either and don't believe in the bible. I think it's mistranslated and full of holes. Reincarnation makes sense to me but probably doesn't to others. I like to think that God recycles
