sphincter of oddi

Question:
Does any know anything about this?
I guess I'm diagnosing myself. I have had every test and all negative. The last one was a MRSP.
The pain is unbearable but thankfully it doesn't last long.

The pain is unbearable but thankfully it doesn't last long. I was wondering, where do you have this pain? Does it radiate to the back? I had GB surgery last summer. All of a sudden Im having pain in and around that area again and I too am wondering if it isn't Sphinchter of Oddi dysfunction. I haven't really been able to find much information on it either.

Answer:

I have been having pain under both ribs at the front for over a year now, had all the bowel tests. All come back normal!!

The pain is more under the right rib, I have had a scan on gallbladder ,come back no stones!!

Do any of you get pain under both ribs ???
Answer:

My pain is right at rib cage maybe a little right of center or center. I have had pain since gallbladder out 4 years ago. Finally 3 years ago they did ERCP well I ended up with pancrititis and in the hospital twice first time 10 days. So then I just didn't go to Dr. for 2 years with it. Now I have been going back when I went to emegency room. So they have done all these test still nothing. They don't want to do the ERCP again. ( the first one they were unable to see bile ducts) I just know the pain is so bad but most of the time it stops in less than a hour, so if you went to the dr. it would be gone and there you would be looking like a idiot. It's hard to deal with everyday stuff because in the back of your mind your dreading it to happen again.
I don't know about you but I'm just sick of it and of everybody(family) saying go to the dr or what did the dr. say.
Tell me about your symtons.oh I also get nauseated when the pain comes but haven't gotten sick very often.

Answer:

Well let me just throw in my story and see if you all can get anything out of it, or maybe even you all help me out. I got a stomach virus in sept (nausea/vomiting/diarrhea) and then proceeded to have nausea for 3 weeks along with diarrhea. I finally went to the doctor where my liver and pancreas enzymes were elevated so I was put in hospital for loads of completely normal tests. To make a long story short, I have struggled with this since, have been hospitalized many times, yet they cant figure crap out. I had my gallbladder out in November and since then have had the same symptoms. I had a sphincterotomy of the bile duct cause my doctor assured me that I had sphincter of oddi dysfunction. So now two months later I still have pain, right in the middle and occasionally on my right side, I cant eat because I have very little stomach function (its a joy getting IV nutrition, NOT), and yet my doctor swears I still need to go to a specialist to go back into an ERCP and have my pancreatic duct sphincter opened. I am at a complete LOSS as to what to think or even do. My lipase is only mildly elevated, which has been going up and down and up and down since the beginning of all of this, but always remains elevated. Have any of you had your pancreas enzymes tested?? I will say the only thing that I have found to help with my pain, besides percocet is to eat small amounts of food many times a day and eat a low fiber and low fat diet. You pancreas secretes digestive enzymes so if you can reduce the work it has to do, then hopefully you pain will diminish. Low fat and low fiber means it will digest easier and so it wont have to secrete as much enzymes. WHEEEWWW so after all of that, I dont know if it helps or not, but I would sure appreciate any insight as well. Oh I am suppose to go see a pancreas specialist so I will keep you posted if I learn anything important.
