Cymbalta Brain Damage Plz Read! - Page 2

Question:
Hi guys,

These posts are for sharing experiences, that's all.

Please do not let others' experiences influence your own. For all we know, most of us on here are not specialists, doctors, pharmacists, etc. If something does not work for someone, it does not mean it will not work for you.

People also need to be careful how they handle these medications--after all, that is why they are being prescribed, and not available OTC.

Please let your doctors' advice be of the utmost importance for you. If not one dr. then get a second opinion from another dr. Once again, please do not let other people's experience with one certain drug, influence your treatment course.
Answer:

I agree, I have cymbalta waiting to be taken but now Im worried Don't let negative posts sway you into not following a docs advice. Everyone is different...and frankly..this is a message board. None of us know each other. This poster seems to be a little extreme. There may be other things going on not at all related to the medication.

I think the reason you might not see a lot of positive things on the internet ( I know that wasnt' you that said that) cause....people are more apt to speak up about the negative. I mean..who doesnt' like to complain.

The meds have been a life saver for some.

Its post like these that scare the crap out of new AD users like me and people getting ready to start AD's. There are countless of them on the web. Throwing around terms like "brain damage" and such. I almost wish I didnt have a computer, I think I wouldve been better off. don't worry hunni, every one has diffrent experiences, and like the origional post says she came off it quickly, i'm not sure that was a good idea, normally with this kinda thing, the doc lowers the dose and you come off slowly.

Take your medication as you have been prescribed and do what the doc says!

Pooters can give you more problems than you already had i know, but also it can be a savior!

take care

Yeah, I appreciate the post. I still wish I hadnt read all the negative stuff before I started and I'm not really trying to target the original poster but there is stuff like this all over the web. You never hear much of the positive experiences, mostly the negative. You know I feel that some side effects are just like the placebo effect. The mind is such a powerful thing. The placebo effect works because you believe that pill is going to help you out even though you dont know its just a sugar pill. I feel the same way about side effects. People like me read some of this stuff and just make it so much worse because I believe I'm going to get every side effect in the book. I'm anxious every single morning when I take this pill becasue I'm waiting for something bad to happen that day.

I know there's nothing I can do about it and the internet is a wonderful tool for communication and information, but I know I wouldve been 100% better off if I wouldnt have read 2,695,590 posts about how SSRI's messed somebody up.

Hi there,
Just trying to be devils advocate here.......
I agree this is a place for people to share experiences.....and everyone has their own reactions to situations and medications. One thing that is so positive here is that people are not judged.........
I think while the original poster may have been a bit strong with their opinion so that it would intimidate others from taking medication.....I think we're all also smart enough to know that some people can take certain medicines and some can not. We dont really need someone to tell us that do we? What works for one, can not be tolerated in another............some cancer patients can not tolerate chemotherapy or radiation but does that mean it is not beneficial for others? Chemo and radiation have damaging effects to everyones body but the end result is a big positive. Some can handle, some can not....its an individual thing.
So yes, please dont let any "one" persons experience deter you from taking medication - go by your doctor for sure......
One more thought though is that I think although some people may not agree with what the first poster said, I do not believe it was ill intentioned. In reading this entire post from start to finish, I feel that it actually came from a good place and they were just trying to save someone else from their discomfort....it may not have come across that way, but I feel that it was coming from a good place......and unfortunately the original intent was lost......
I hope everyone can feel better about their medications....and just again be sure to go by your own feelings and the recommendations of your doctor.
