Question:
hi Chris,
Glad you have had a few better days since taking the liquorice root. Did it help your balance problem then? My balance problem seems to be better than it was but I can still feel it if I exert myself too much. It feels as if my brain just "gives way" at a certain point and I feel it then until I relax. difficult to explain really. what does the liquorice root do then? did he say what he thought ME was? Dr wright said that they had proven a vasculitis was going on or something like that but had to find out why and that maybe it was borrelia. I dont know though. I have been feeling kind of itchy, hot skin lately after working. It's kind of annoying when it is in quite a few places at the same time. I am still taking the T3 but have stopped the antibiotics as they have run out and I cant be bothered to pay for another course. As my GP said, would normal, healthy people have the same bugs under a microscope. I think AW did say though that it might work on a sliding scale, where at a certain point or level of infection you get ME (if they are right that is). I also asked him about whether the post polio theory may be correct, and he said he didnt think so as viruses arent that clever. Anyway, let me know how you get on with the liqourice root. where do you get it from?

I just wrote you a long message but it failed to send so basically I wanted to ask what symptoms have been improved do you think by you taking the liquorice root?

Hi Woozyguy,
Just wanted to say that you might want to check out the Inner Ear Boards for your imbalance symptoms.
I have been dealing an equlibrium problem for a number of years. Not related to CFS, however, you still may find something helpful on that forum.
Wishing you the best.
Answer:
Hi Martin,
Well the liquorice root is supposed to support the adrenal glands and I think it can raise blood pressure a bit so not good if you have high blood pressure. I have a lot of trouble standing and generally being upright and my blood pressure does drop when I stand where it should rise slightly. I seem to have been able to stand and walk around a little longer since Ive been taking it but it could be a fluke, as I do feel VERY fatigued this afternoon and havnt really done anything. I didnt really ask him what he thought ME was, but I reckon he thinks alot of ME sufferers have a thyroid or adrenal problem.
Its all very confusing isnt it? Hard to know what is causing these symptoms. I still think that DR Wright probably has something with the borrelia, etc, so might get back to him at some point, but its also hard to know how long to persevere with these treatments before we rethink. Time will tell I suppose, so I will wait for these new meds to arrive and keep you posted.
Wowwweee is right about the inner ear boards, very good and I often drop in there although Im not sure if I have an ear prob or not, the people are great and really helpful.
Take care (ps about the hot itchy skin, I get a weird feeling like something is crawling on me at night in bed, dont know what that is about)!! lol

hi Chris
Yes, I get the creepy crawly thing sometimes too. I also get a lot of acid and have to take a pepcid 2 to stop it. These last few days I have been feeling a weird brain feeling again and when I lie down in bed at night my brain goes in a spin for a minute or so and it feels horrible. I did an experiment hanging upside down and the weird feeling came on. I just dont get it. I am thinking is it because I have stopped the antibiotics. It really is a balance kind of thing where my brain doesnt like it if I lie at funny angles, although even when I am upright I dont feel quite normal at the moment.
take care anyway and let me know how you get on,
Martin
