Question:
Hey there,
My name is Kurt. How is everyone? I am a 21 year old male with spastic C.P with a speech impairment. I know that dating can be hard for a lot of you but it can be done. I have been on a couple of dates. Here is some tips.
1. DON'T Think about rejection everyone is bound to happen to everyone.
2. DO Plan everything out before you ask the person out. NOTING that most of us can't drive because of our startle reflex. What I do is ask the girl to dinner on my campus at college. I do the double date thing with my frat brothers. Yep, I am in Delta Chi. I will tell you how to join a frat in my next topic.
3. If you are taking your date out to eat. Remember to order something EASY to eat. I always order chicken fingers and fries. DON'T forget your rocker knife. If you do then ask the waiter for help. DON'T ask your date. Your date is NOT your aide.
4. Make sure you dress nicely.
5. Clean your wheelchair. make sure it is all shiny and smells nicely.
***FINAL TIP*** Don't think a girl is way out of your league. I not trying to bragged but I have dated a sorority girl. She was good looking blond blue eye girl.
If you have any specfic questions then write them I will reply. I want all of you to enjoy life.

Nice post Kurt,
my name is Kurt too, small world!
on number 5, you should smell nice too. I've dated and I lived with a beautiful Los Angeles stripper. It was really the only time I can remember when I was in a crowd and they looked at her and not me. I was 21 then. I'm happily married to a young AB woman...I am 53 years old. And using an old term I have Spastic Paraplegia circa 1950

Any dating tips for women with Cerebral Palsy? In my experiences, men seem reluctant to ask disabled women out. I'm of the opinion, stereotypical as it sounds, that maybe a man feels that a disabled woman expects a guy to take care of her for life if he takes her on a date. I've never figured out how to break through that barrier; how does a woman walk/wheel up to a guy and say, "Would you lke to go out sometime? By the way, I'm not looking for a caregiver...just a fun date."
Answer:
I am female and I have found dating to be extremely difficult. I've had a few dates when I was in college or when someone set me up on a blind date. I've tried asking a guy out, but this scared him off. The cp didn't scare him off. I found out later that he intended to ask me out, but just ended a bad relationship. I have not dated in a few years. It bites.
I play in an AB co-ed softball league. It seems like so many people have started dating and then get married because of softball. I haven't even been asked on a date by one of the softball guys. I know the guys know who I am... I am currently interested in a guy that plays for another team in the league. He will talk to me occaissionally, but he hasn't asked me out yet.

I have a little bit of a twist to the topic. I am a guy who does not have CP, but I am interested in dating another guy that I met who does have CP.
I heard the term before but was not truly educated on what CP was. Reading about it I have found information that is good, but I do not know how precise it is.
Any advice on dating for a non-CP person persuing a person with CP?
We were cuddling with each other the past night and I just had a fear that I was going to move the wrong way and hurt him or something. Unrational thinking I am sure. But any advice would be greatly appreciated.
