Going in for surgery after Thanksgiving

Question:
I wanted to thank all of you for your responses to my first post. I have decided after getting other doctors opinions to have surgery after thanksgiving. I am concerned about the sexual side effects but at the same time I do want to live. I would appreciate any feedback on the sexual side effects any of you may have exoerienced. As for me I have been doing my kegal exercises and working out hard every day to maintain my fitness, mind and body are very healthy and am ready to get this beyond me so I can get back to my life. This board has been a tremendous help and again thank you all for responding. I will post again once I have a date for the surgery .
Answer:

You will feel much relieved like most of us here when your "defective" prostate has been removed. Prostates are nothing but trouble for men. I had no urinary problems after my ROBOTIC removal. That will be your first hurdle. On the sexual side of things...well nothing yet. The doctor asked me if I wanted a prescription for VIAGRA to get things working early. His office had all kinds of VIAGRA stuff everywhere. He assurred me in time things will get back to normal..but VIAGRA would speed things up. It's only been 50 days so I have not been to worried!!!
Answer:

Had to robotic surgery 2 days after Labor Day. Still having incontince problems and no sexual activity yet. Which is driving me crazy have completed several home projects to burn that energy. Though I have seen some progress. Taking Cialis three times a week. I'm 44 years old so I'm confident it will come back. I would use your equipment all that you can before surgery. If you do have to wear pads get serinity for men they are very comfortable. The other cut into your legs. Get some anti itch cream and whoever shaves you asked them to be careful I got nicked and it took a while to heal.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.
Answer:

I had the surgery March 14..my urologist didn't do robotic, so had to have the regular surgery, spared both nerves. I had to wear the pads until just one month ago when I finally had confidence enough to go without. So far that's worked well, just an occasional small leak when I move suddenly or lift something too heavy. As for the impotence, that's still a problem. So far, nothing has happened except for some very small semi-erections. I tried Edex injections, but that caused problems and had to stop. I've had significant shrinkage due to the scarring caused by the injections, and I guess also because of lack of blood flow to the penis. I take Cialis almost every day to try to get things working again. I remain hopeful!! (And FRUSTRATED!!!) I hope all goes well for you, and everyone is different, so you may have less problem than I've had. We'll be anxious to hear reports on your progress.

Today marks our 3 month post robotic surgery date. Husband feels great. Still wearing Depend guards, but fewer now. Both his nerves were spared. He takes Viagra every other day and uses the pump. This is part of his rehab. Do not want to let scar tissue start forming. His PSA is 0.
