Answer:
Hi Blue
Welcome to the boards
You had the same kind of resectonas my husband. Hopefully at the six week mark you are feeling more confortable and able to get around easier. You will still need to take it easy though.
Walking is great exercise....... nice and gentle to start with and then building up to longer distances. Should also help with any gas/wind pain or build up. Husband started driving again at 6 weeks but not far as it is surprising how many muscles you use down there. He also went for a cycle ride each day although at the time we were blessed with a great summer (2003), not like this year where we had an inch of hail yesturday !!!!!
Eating i think seems to be a little different for everyone although most here would probably advise to eat smaller portions more frequently. Avoid fatty or greasy foods or any processed foods. Husband cannot tolerate nuts/seeds, raw or al-dente vegetables, parsnips, radishes, cabbage or blue cheese.
hope the above helps...... good luck in your recovery.

Hi,
I had, and have recovered well, from the same operation, now 8 years on and better than ever. I have a reasonable idea of what you are going through, we are all different, though.
For me hot spicy foods, tomatoes and lettuce were a problem for a few months, but what helped enormously in my recovery was fasting one day a week...water only..not starving myself, but giving my kidneys, liver ....body in general a rest. I decided early on to concentrate on health, not cancer, and keep well .
I wish you all the best, let your inner self guide you, but remember to change what caused your cancer in the first place, Glennk.

Welcome, glennk! Eight years is great! Would you like to tell us something about yourself....what stage you were and so on? It always helps those recently dx to hear how well others did.
Take care,

Hi, regarding what stage I was at, I had surgery to remove a tumour, that was that. From then on I concentrated on health, not cancer. I looked at it this way, what's the big deal......if you have a broken leg, do you go to Broken Leg Support Groups, discuss latest medicines, treatments, dwell on it, let it run your life? The human body is perfectly capable of healing cancer, as I type this millions of cells are being replaced, not through any doing of mine.
We have to take away, not add, simplify, find the cause, do something different, not expect a quick fix...it all comes from attitude...forget battling cancer, see it as a "friend", it's telling you need to change something you are doing or not doing. You have to have faith...I didn't for one minute think I wouldn't recover, forget the term "in remission"..don't let them put that one over you..tell yourself instead you are a recoverer. Faith will do it, with it you'll find a way...but beware of quacks. In OZ there was a doctor who made a machine with a dryer/blower, patients would lie down on a movable table and pass through an archway with warm air blowing on them, lots of flashing coloured lights etc., and people were cured ..because they believed!!!!
