Question:
I know how you feel, I get sick of eating veggies and stuff sometimes. But they are really good for us and I'm sure all of us would be way healthier if we didn't eat so much processed food that has so little health benefit.
I just started the pill again, I'm a bit hesitant because I have heard that it can increase our risk of cervical cancer, but from what I've seen and read it sounds like if you are on the pill for 10 years or more then it can increase the risk. But who knows? I've been having problems that I'm waiting on an ultrasound and stuff for, but my doctors think its my hormones. Since I restarted I have felt way better. So if everything comes out normal and it must be my hormones, then I'll probably continue the BC for a while. But I have wondered about it increasing risk for cervical cancer.
Answer:
I've been doing all the above and overall my immune is definitely doing way better. I'll be very curious to see what my next pap smear shows to be honest.
fairydust, when is your next pap? I'm curious to see how your regimen is working!
Answer:
My doctor perscibed BC pills due to me being diagnosed with PCOS(on top of everything else). I agree with Fairydust saying that longterm use can increase your chances, but as long as you are only using BC pills to help control another issue or for a short period of time, you should be fine. (this is my opinion of course). You should bring this up with your doctor if you are very concerned. If I may ask, why are you taking BC pills? Is it just for protection or hormone therapy? In my case, I need BC pills to become regular.
Answer:
I read in a study that if you are taking BC you should increase the intake of folic acid several times a day because BC and their estrogen lowers the levels of foliate. Apperanlty supplemental foliate would help preventing dysplasia on women that use BC,but doesn't seem to make a big difference for the ones who are not using BC regularly.
So my advice, get some supplementary folic acid, it doesn't hurt...
personally I just can't find the right BC formyself, either I get melasmia (too much estrogen) or the ones with very little estrogen cause me spotting and other nasty side effects. I don't like the progesterone only or "minipills" becasue 1)I dont like taking too much of any hormone and 2) I dont like the fact that you do not get a period at all on them sometimes.
I'm just taking vitamins and eating veggies...it looks that some multivitamins aren't as good as they say to be (consumer lab) so eating live produces is your best bet

not until June technically, but I'm going to be calling in mid-April and scheduling one. I had my primary care doctor read my pap and colposcopy reports and she told me some things that he didn't (nothing major, but enough that I'm not happy with him), so I want to go in a month or so early and see a different gyn doctor this time for my follow up.
I'm also on BCP to regulate my cycle. In Dec I out of the blue became irregular with spotting and crampy feelings several days a week at least, if not everyday of the week. And some other pains and stuff. I actually have an ultrasound tomorrow (Wednesday) to make sure there's nothing else wrong with me. I don't want to stay on BCP for a long time, but hopefully after a year or so I can go back off and be regular again.
