Happy but Very Confused!

Question:
I just got off the phone with my dr. and she told me that the results from my biopsies were back. The samples showed NO lesions. The only thing it did show was that i have HPV. Which of course we all ready knew.

The confusing part of this is that my LEEP came back mild with clean margins, but my first follow up pap came back showing moderate dysplasia. I decided to see a new gyno who did a second colposcopy, the results of which is the latest showing no lesions. BUT while she was doing it she could SEE the lesions as soon as she used the vinager solution and without using the light...she told me this and it freaked me out. After the colpo she drew me a picture of what she had seen and it was evident something was there. She did say that it was exactly where the LEEP would have been done so that there was a chance that it was healing tissure or scar tissue. Which it must be. I asked her if she was confident with the test results and she said yes that she had all my previous samples sent to one lab and that they were all read by one pathologist.

I guess there is no rhyme or reason to HPV. I have been taking a variety of suppliments so i do believe that is helping, but i really dont know.

Here's to good results for all those who are still waiting to hear from their Drs.

Hi- I've never had a LEEP done before, but have read alot about it. Chances are that the LEEP removed all the mild dysplasea... and the area your doctor was seeing was scar tissue. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. just keep up with your appointments and you will be just fine. I recently had a normal result as well. HPV was very confusing to me in the begining, but have done alot of research. The ladies on this site have also helped me a great deal. Congrats on the great news. Wishing you many more clear results!
Answer:

Hey WishingWell
Thank you.....
I know what you mean, but the strange thing is that my initial results were severe dysplasia. Then the LEEP results showing mild with clear margins and then the moderate follow up pap...just all over the place. But i will take it!
Thanks again
Take care

Don't forget that there is a possibility that they could have gotten normal on it's own. This is what happend to me. My doctor decided to take the "wait and see" approach after my biopsy resulted in CIN1 and after my 6 month follow up paps, seems that my cells have gotten normal on it's own. Without treatment. Stay positive! We are the lucky ones that catch in on time. Just please please please keep up with your doctor's appointments. It is very important because you still have HPV.

That's great news, Lisa!

I know what you mean about being confused by what's going on. I was told back in October 2005 that I had moderate/severe dysplasia. My doctor decided to take a "wait and see" attitude and nothing was done at that time. In June of last year, my colposcopy and Pap were normal, so we assumed that the lesions had cleared on their own.

Now here it is March, and I have severe dysplasia/CIS. I don't know if my doctor missed it last June and it's progressed to this severity or if it's new lesions (though I think they're in the same location as the one's back in October.)

Anyway, I'll keep you in my prayers that you continue to get good results.

Hugs,

Lisa
