Another spot question for ya!

Question:
Hello everyone! I noticed this mole on my scalp, right at the hairline, a couple of years ago. I really didnt think much about it then, because it was small, and I have moles everywhere. My only concern then was that it seemed to appear out of nowhere. Since then, I've noticed that it grew quit big in size (the size of a pencil eraser) and has gotten darker in color. I've done the research on it, it doesn't match all of the ABC's, because it is not different colors and it is pretty round. It really has not changed much in last year that I've noticed, maybe alittle darker, but I find myself looking at it more often. I don't have proper healthcare, so I have not had it looked at. Can anyone tell me if I should be worried? If it is cancer, how fast would it spread? I noticed it 2 years ago, is it safe to say that it's nothing? Would it have progressed much more by now? Any advice would be great! Thank you! Oh, and one more question... I woke up the other morning and notice a huge birthmark looking thing on my ( I don't even want to say where it is ). It's light in color and very rugged in shape. It's huge!!! I have no idea what this thing is, because it does not look like a mole at all! And it's not a bruis what so ever! It's a weird change in my skin color in a certain area. I don't know if it would have to do with cancer, but I thought I'd ask.
Answer:

I may not be the best one to tell you not to worry. As you can tell by my threads, I'm in the process of wondering and worrying about a spot of my own. However, a few years ago I had a mole appear in my hairline on my temple. At first I thought it was a stain from my hair color. It started as literally a pin dot. Over a year it grew. Not huge, about the size of a bee bee. But it continued to grow from absolutely nothing over a year. I thought it was strange, especially in my hairline. So I had it removed and it was a normal mole.

It's hard to determine when a mole is changing for normal reasons or not normal reasons. Chances are yours is fine. Moles grow and darken over time. But it's never a bad idea to have someone look at it. If you go on the American Cancer Society website they sometimes give areas where free skin screening clinics are being held. Maybe you could find one of those and have it looked at if it's really nagging you.

Good luck!!

Thank you for your reply! I didn't know that there are free screanings out there, I will look into it.

Amberay,
Actually, I stand corrected. It's the American Academy of Dermatology websit. AAD.org that has listings for free cancer screenings in your area. I just missed two last week. That would have been nice, a free skin check.

Anyway, go to their website and under public resources there's a link to skin cancer screenings. All you do it put in your state or zip code and it will tell you if there are any in your area.
